Speaking of the Dead

Over the past few months I've been fortunate to be able to observe a medium discover their particular brand of genius, and it has been a delight to watch.
But it made me think. With whom, amongst all the deceased, would I like most to speak, given the opportunity? (Y'know, I just want all the grammar pedants out there to stop and admire that last sentence for a minute. Thank you.)
My answer? Nobody. I've talked enough with departed family when they were alive. The geniuses of the past, from Einstein to Newton, have already left us all that they were capable of giving. Spiritual figures? Laozi, Buddha, Krishna? Again, if I can't get their message from the teachings they already offered, a 30-minute medium session probably won't cut it.
Besides, at some point you realize that the answers to all of your questions are scattered around you like autumn leaves. You don't really need one of the Big Guns to tend to you.
Despite coming up snake eyes, I found that the process of answering this question was valuable.
So I pose it to you. If you could speak to any of the dead, who would it be?
Just as importantly, why?
The answer to that question may require some digging, because it will eventually reveal a hole in yourself. Something missing which may only be replaced by extraordinary means. How deep the hole, and how large, will dictate the tools you use, which is why I always recommend my students have well-stocked psychological and metaphysical toolboxes. When you need a Farnsworth Transmorgrifier, a pipe wrench is not likely to do the job.
Maybe a visit to the medium is the ticket. Many have healed their hearts by hearing the words of lost loved ones. Or you might find that your hole is better filled with earth from another land.
If you need some help finding your way in the dark underground, feel free to reach out. I'm always ready to lend a hand with a shovel.
Take good care of yourself. You're the only one of you out there.
